Css-tricky lill bunny

You think you’ve caught it, and then it slips through your fingers, at the moment I’m having issues making my website compatable with firefox and IE.. I know everyones oppinions, so don’t get me started or I’ll start speaking foreign languages again!
So far.. I’m using the same Css as I’ve used before, slightly modified.. and it’s not working, but the other website works fine. IT’S JUST NOT FAIR.. and whats worse is I know it’s something I did lol… damnit.. It’s always my fault.
So I guess I’ll keep working at it.
So far the website design is going well it will be fairly big because I will use it as a front page for the actual game as well as advertising it.
So that potential users can log on, view forums etc..

must keep working. Quick update.

I am alive

Hey all, I’m still alive.
Blogging, I’m obviously not very into it. Sorry for not keeping you all up to date.

How am I doing in this subject…? I have no idea!! That’s all I will say about that!!

Oh in refrence to the questions that I had last week from my presentation…..
To store my data; I have been planing to use a data base where a target photo sets a new row of information and becomes an Id for the snapped photos which are placed in the same array. That way you can use the target image id (which is hidden) so selecting the target photo, will display the snapped images for that particular target image.

Allocation of points: I had been planning up untill last week to use the moderators to give someone the points if they had achieved a “snap” (so they choose what is a good snap) this idea has changed because it was suggested to be not a good method…. Sooooooooo anywho, I have a new plan of attack.
(there are allowed to be multiple snaps to an image) points are alocated to creativity and accuracy. This is judged by peers, fellow players of photosnap….
I have had the idea that once a player reaches a certian amount of points they become a moderator and are able to mark their peers snaps.

Okkkkkk.. that’s all from me.

Website submission = Chaos.

Did it feel strange to anyone else that there was no actual submission of the website. You kinda just had to leave it there.. and hope… that it all worked out, in that sense it wasn’t like a normal essay assignment where you hand it in and go… wellll….. PARTY TIME .. I didn’t seem to get much relief walking away from the computer on friday night. Knowing you have to just let it go……… “you’ve done all you can” comes to mind. haha. Just wondering if anyone had the same feelings.

About the website in general, I hope I have submitted all that needed doing. I need to update my prototype, and I have another survey to post, this one will be about defining the interface a little bit more, and how people generally wish to navigate their phones. So far my first prototypes are fairly basic, I think it will need alot of work, but the general idea is there. It’s hard because you need to fit so much into a screen, but the buttons need to be large enough for the users to press using the touch screen. AND… more screens is not nessicarily a good thing….

More questionnaires are in order.

I will cry!!!

Ok… not to make excuses but the past week has been the biggest pile of steaming useless waste that ever walked the earth!!! I’ve had family in hospital, open houses (ON MY HOUSE) and NOW…. oh NOW… right when i don’t need it…..
(let me have my dramatics)
The site where i hosted my surveys will not let me access my acount and hence forth… MY RESULTS. Naturally with the due date looming this is making me very very upset………

So i’m breathing deeply.. and praying that they emial me with some form of access!

Yours all bathed in gooey gooey stress..

Flight Simulator- WAY COOL!

Hey all,
I was talking to my brother this afternoon and he showed me this pretty rad clip, I thought it might be interesting for the two people who were looking at doing flight simulators… And of course, for all of you with intrigue.

So check out the link!!! for info on it

http://www.therawfeed.com/2006/09/vr-gear-makes-rc-airplane-coolest-toy.html

The low down is that some people have placed a pan and tilt camera on a model aircraft, the movement of this camera is then controled by the movement of the pilots head (who is wearing VR goggles: Allowing him to see out of the plane as though he was the pilot)… like I said.. pretty RAD! he controls the plane using a regular remote control.

Anyways, hopefully this is helpfull to some people, or just interesting! enjoy!

Css…….. Interesting

I’d really like to look into more about creating an external style sheet so that I can make a basic style sheet for the entire website. Also now I have to look into branching out the site for 3D modelling.

It would be good to get cracking on really updating the site.
Now that I know about CSS and how to write out the code for it, I’d like to update the style of the website now. I believe I have some new ideas for the layout and design… I know don’t use tables bla bla bla… don’t add style settings within tags ok ok ok……

anyways so just an update hoping to get to that this weekend.

Finally some understanding!!

It’s ok, I’m alive

After spending the majority of last week laying in bed with a massive temperature doped up on codine, i have finally regained the will to live! I know… *Much merriment and rejoicing in the castle*.. In this blog ideas on my application will be indicated in bold.. while the rest is merely blabber and self pitty. Enjoy!

so far i have been having ideas, and thoughts about interviews and surveys:

luckily enough for me i am associated with some vey interesting people who not only enjoy spending their evenings in virtual worlds battling dwarfes, but they also enjoy the outdoors: hiking, sailing etc…. it’s these hybrids who I believe are my user group, mainly and I may be sterotyping, but they are the type of people who enjoy Geo-Caching.

When you live out where I do it’s really not uncommon for these hybrids to exist, considering that we live right next to the most beautiful natural bushland (the trees aren’t blue by the way!).

we are currently on break from the manotony of ideas presentations. Its pretty good to listen to peoples ideas and hear suggestions as well as remember the people who have ideas similar to yours… I’m hearing whispers of COLLABORATION people! but it’s very difficult to sit for so long… you all agree with me!! haha. I think it’s going to be very very dark by the time I get home.

Which makes me really like martha’s idea. because I often have to wait for about 30 to 40 mins regularly for a train. which pretty much doubles my “travel time”. It would be really nice to know when I have missed a train so that I can occupy myself with something more entertaining than watching the city rail cleaning crew patrol the platforms at central!

Kaz also sugested an interesting method to allocating points, which would require waiting untill the iphone had a GPS but it would make the game considerably more interesting. By attatching a GPS location to the image (which is not visible to any players), a tally can begin on how many people (who have the GPS of their phone added to the site) walking past the point where the photo was taken will add points up.
So the more people who play the game, that walk past this point, the more points that the person who assigned the photo is given!

Website

I know as yet I haven’t really put any of my work on my website up.. so I thought I should probably blog about it so you all don’t think I’m just slacking off. Over the weekend I managed to pick up the flu so I’ve been a bit of a slow poke about the things I wanted to get done. So I’ve been working on my website, just working out what needs to be on it, how I want it to look….
I’ve been trying my hand at the html.. getting there lol.

Anyways I’m off to keep working on it.
Work in progress people!

So the power is still on!

Further “honeing” on my idea, since the presentation is soon. Although I was unable to find the dates on Rob’s website, which could have been my own oversight.
Ok, I had another thought on the developement of the game, that to make it more competitive and to encourage people to make their pictures more dificult and interesting to find, perhaps there could be a time count which begins when the person uploads the image to the website. Finding the picture in the shortest amount of time allocates a certain amount of points to each person.
So pages which I need (or screens):

  • A main page: Welcome
    • link to upload
    • view score
    • check active photofinds
    • link to google maps
  • Upload page:
    • A system that works like Piccasa (can I symply use piccasa)
    • I-phone no upload tech. Is that a possible future developement for the iphone?! (as I am designing an application to be used on the Iphone in aprox 5 years)
    • Links to google maps, allocates a general area to the map (where the picture was taken)
      • Perhaps you could join a group from a particular area and only get photos from your desired region?!
  • View score:
    • List of names showing stats
      • Could need to be more interactive, entertianing (simply a list of names would not be very fascinating to the user!)
      • Will see what happens when I start doing a few sketches and post them.
  • Google maps
    • direct link allows user to check imediately if there are any active photofinds in the area.

“photofinds” just a random name which I came up. it’s pretty self explainitory, but just incase: it’s just a noun which I have adopted to describe photo posts which are yet to be found.

Whooooooo saiiid “Calippo”!!!

Well, wasn’t today very fun. Actually it was nice to be outside on such a nice day, I do believe it gave us all the good dose of vitamin D that the computer screen could never do. Power outages aren’t all that bad, or did someone cut the wrong wire…?!?!
Tune in next week to find out.
